Submit your online application.

The following supporting documents are required to complete your application:

Resume in Word or PDF format

Personal Statement in Word or PDF format.

Prepare personal essay, approximately 600 words in length, explaining why you would like to pursue a degree (or certificate) in your intended field of study and your qualifications in terms of academic preparation, work experiences, and skills for undertaking such professional study. Please refer to the specific program pages on our website for any further information regarding personal statement instructions.

Three professional letters of recommendation. You will be asked to input their name and email address in the recommenders section of the online application and the form will be automatically sent to them once you submit those fields. These recommendations must be professional (supervisors) or academic (current or former college professors) in nature. Please refer to the program pages on our website for more specific information (some programs only require two letters).

Education Information: You will need to provide official transcripts for all Colleges/Universities attended. Transcripts can be forwarded to the address listed at the end of this checklist.

Test Scores. GRE scores are not required.

Evaluation. Once an application is complete, the admissions committee reviews applicants using a holistic approach to assess the potential for completion of the graduate program.

Interview. Some programs require an interview with the Program Director as part of the application process. Visit the academic program of interest to see if your program requires an interview.

“Non-matriculated” student. Students who would like to take courses before or during the application process, if eligible, may do so as a “Non-matriculated” student with permission from the Program Director and completing the Non-matriculated Request Form.

Acceptance. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance in writing from the Graduate Studies office. Some programs allow students to be accepted on a conditional basis.

International Students Only:

English Language Proficiency: Applicants whose native or official language is not English are required to provide evidence of English proficiency through one of the following tests:


TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): Assumption’s TOEFL code is 3009. Minimum score requirements for the TOEFL: 540 paper and 200 computer and 79-80 internet (https://www.ets.org/toefl).
IELTS (International English Language Testing System): Minimum score requirements for the IELTS is 6.0 (www.ielts.org).
Duolingo English Test: Assumption’s minimum score requirement for the Duolingo English test is 105 (https://englishtest.duolingo.com/).

English Proficiency Waiver – If you believe you qualify for an English proficiency waiter, please request the form from the graduate office at graduate@assumption.edu. The proficiency waiver requests must be received by the application deadline and must accompany a complete application.

Please have your official scores mailed to Assumption University (DI Code: 3009) at the address listed below. If you list your test scores on the application, you are still required to have original test scores forwarded to Graduate Studies. Transcript Evaluations: Transcript evaluations are required for all international applicants who completed their degree at a foreign university to determine U.S. degree equivalency. Transcript evaluations results must be sent directly from the evaluating company to the address listed below.
