Learn to address the fast-paced dynamics of a rapidly changing marketplace with creativity and insight. Our marketing program combines courses in advertising, research, consumer behavior, and public relations so that you’ll understand every aspect of the field, from branding and positioning to promotion and distribution

Successful marketers know how to address the fast-paced dynamics of a rapidly changing marketplace with creativity and insight. At Assumption, you will gain an understanding of a broad range of topics from branding and positioning to promotion and distribution. You will also acquire knowledge and skills valued by the business world by rounding out your business education with courses in our strong liberal arts program. In addition to acquiring proficiency in a broad range of technical and professional skills sought by employers, you will learn how to excel in a global business environment and study in an environment that values ethical and socially responsible business practice.

The marketing program will provide you with the educational background necessary to function successfully in sales, advertising, public relations, merchandising, product and brand management, and other marketing occupations. You will develop an understanding of the risks, rewards, and challenges inherent in the marketing profession while developing the ability to identify, analyze, and respond to these challenges.

Since marketing strategy is at the core of all businesses, a career in marketing involves working with a variety of people within and outside the firm. Successful marketers are good communicators, critical thinkers, natural problem solvers and multitaskers.

  • Digital Marketing Concentration

    Marketing is rapidly transitioning towards the digital world and adopting digital tools. With the rise of smartphones, tablets, video games, and other forms of new media, organizations are rapidly changing the way they market products and services to consumers. This concentration will help students gain the knowledge necessary to succeed in a digital marketing environment.

    The digital marketing concentration will introduce students to topics such as social media marketing, email marketing, and mobile strategies. Students will learn to develop and implement contemporary digital marketing campaigns for any type of organization and learn to make tactical and data-driven decisions using social media measurement, business intelligence, SEO/SEM, web analytics, and marketing data.

Study Abroad

At Assumption University, the world is your classroom. Students can study and explore abroad in over 50 places from Vienna to England, South Africa, and even our own campus in historic, yet modern, Rome, Italy. Assumption’s study abroad program offers culture, history, and a living classroom for all.

Internships

Assumption career planning starts the day you arrive on campus. “Internship in Business” is a 3-credit seminar course in the Business Studies Department that is available to all business students. The course provides hands-on experience and training, networking and informational interviews with professionals, and assessment of your personal career strengths and interests. You will spend a minimum of 120 hours working in the field. During the weekly seminar, students discuss how organizational behavior and management concepts apply to their individual placements.

Apply as a high school senior into the dual degree program with one application and benefit from being considered for a $2,500 Assumption Business Leader Scholarship (per year for 5 years), special programming, and the ability to take up to two MBA courses during your senior year.  We offer two tracks to choose from: Management and CPA (for accounting majors only).
