Assumption University Named to Princeton Review’s Best 392 Colleges for 2027

The Princeton Review has announced that Assumption University has been named to its book of the best 392 colleges in the United States for 2027, along with being named one of the Best in the Northeast.
The Princeton Review compiles its list of the best colleges based on surveys of college students and administrators. As in past years, the colleges on the main Best 392 list are not ranked against one another. Assumption is among only 14% of America’s four-year colleges named to the list this year.
According to The Princeton Review’s current profile of the University, Assumption’s curriculum encourages self-exploration and introspection to help students discover who they want to become through service, meaningful discussions, and liberal arts classes.
Students described faculty as “beyond helpful,” engaging, approachable, and “willing to talk to you whenever you need it and [caring] about your wellbeing.” As one student put it, “the professors here at Assumption all love what they do, and it is obvious in the classroom.” The profile highlights the University’s 11:1 student-to-faculty ratio and average class size of 18. Assumption earned a nearly perfect 94 out of 99 rating for professor accessibility—a level of support which extends across the University and which students cite as “truly a blessing.”
The also notes Assumption’s emphasis on experiential learning through the application of skills in service learning, study abroad, and internships. Campus jobs, students said, offer another avenue for experience and are “abundant.”
Beyond its academic marks, Assumption received a 91 out of 99 financial aid rating and an 88 out of 99 quality of life rating in the guide. Greyhounds praised their “beautiful, diverse, and secure campus,” and said the city of Worcester “always offers something to do.”
Students describe the campus as “a tight-knit, faith-based community where everyone is part of a family,” noting a strong sense of belonging that makes it easy to meet new people, particularly for those invested in academics, sports, extracurriculars, and social life. In the words of one respondent, “[people here] genuinely care about each other, and it makes for a wonderful experience. Hound Nation is like no other.”
