Military Friendly® Recognizes Assumption for Sixth Consecutive Year
Assumption University has once again earned a spot on the Military Friendly® list of colleges and universities, marking the sixth year in a row the University has received this distinction.
The Military Friendly® designation is determined through a combination of public data and institutional surveys. An independent Advisory Council of higher education leaders, working alongside Viqtory, evaluates each institution on measures like student retention, graduation rates, job placement, loan repayment, persistence, and default rates among veteran students.
Six years of continuous recognition speaks to the depth of Assumption’s commitment to its veteran community, from dedicated programs and academic support to campus events honoring their service. For the 2026-27 rankings, the University has been designated a silver military friendly school in its category.
“Being recognized as a Military Friendly® institution for the sixth year running is a source of real pride for our whole community,” said Gary Senecal, associate professor of human services and chair of the Veterans Success Committee. “Our student veterans bring discipline, perspective, and resilience to this campus, and we owe it to them to keep building the support systems, programs, and connections that help them thrive both in the classroom and beyond it. This recognition motivates us to keep raising the bar.”
Assumption’s support for veterans takes many forms: the Veterans Success Committee works to ensure veterans have access to quality higher education; a dedicated veterans lounge gives student veterans a space to connect; a graduate program prepares both civilians and military-connected students to better serve those who’ve served; an annual Veterans Day program honors those who’ve served; a partnership with the Worcester Institute for Senior Education extends educational opportunities to older veterans; and the Military Connect Club hosts events honoring and supporting veterans across the academic year.
