Prayer and Worship

Students of all faith traditions are welcome at every form of worship offered by Campus Ministry.

Join a praying and worshipping community that is focused on students. Assumption promotes a vibrant campus worshipping community centered around the Eucharist, the source and summit of Christian life. Additional opportunities include Mass, Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer, Reconciliation, Charismatic Praise, Candlelight Prayer, and Adoration. Students serve as greeters, altar servers, lectors, Communion ministers, and music ministers. Campus ministers connect students from other churches and faith traditions with nearby worshipping communities in Worcester.

Schedule of Liturgies on Campus

During the academic year (late August through mid-May, except for College breaks):

Sunday:
- Morning Prayer: 8:00 AM
- Mass: 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM
- Evening Prayer: 4:45 PM
- Sacrament of Reconciliation: 6:20-6:50 PM
Monday through Friday:
- Morning Prayer: 8:00 AM
- Mass: 5:00 PM (also 12:00 PM during Lent)
- Evening Prayer: 5:35 PM
- Sacrament of Reconciliation: Wednesday 9:05-10:00 PM
Saturday:
- Morning Prayer and Mass: 8:00 AM
- Evening Prayer: 5:35 PM

During the summer and College breaks:

Sunday:
- Morning Prayer: 8:00 AM
- Mass: 10:00 AM
- Evening Prayer: 4:45 PM
Monday through Saturday:
- Morning Prayer and Mass: 8:00 AM
- Evening Prayer: 5:35 PM

Liturgical and Music Ministries

Students share their talents with the worshipping community at Assumption in various liturgical and music ministries. No previous experience is required, and training is provided.

Greeters welcome people to the Chapel and take up the collection at Sunday Masses.
Music Ministers lead the music at Mass and other liturgies, and include choir members, cantors, and instrumentalists.
Altar Servers assist the priest in a variety of ways during Mass.
Lectors prepare the scripture readings and read them during Mass and other liturgies.
Communion Ministers serve the Body and Blood of Christ to those assembled for Mass.

More Opportunities for Prayer & Worship at Assumption

Chapel of the Holy Spirit: One of the most beautiful and beloved spots on campus, the Chapel is home to most prayer and worship opportunities at Assumption. It is also a favorite place for students to visit for quiet prayer and reflection.

Interfaith Prayer Room: This peaceful room in the Tinsley Campus Ministry Center is available for quiet prayer, reflection and meditation. The space includes meditation cushions, prayer rugs, and readings from a variety of religious and spiritual traditions.
Many athletic teams have a chaplain who pray with them before games, matches, meets or races.
- Father Ron Sibugan, A.A. is the Chaplain for the Men’s Lacrosse, Ice Hockey, Women’s Soccer, Volleyball and Football teams.
- Rachel Dean is the Chaplain for the Field Hockey and Women’s Rowing teams.
- Stephanie McCaffrey is the Chaplain for the Swimming/Diving team.
- Joe Kwiatkowski is the Chaplain for the Baseball team.
- Dean Conway Campbell is the Chaplain for the Tennis team.
