U.S. News & World Report Ranks Assumption a 2018 Best Regional College, Best Value School

Jan 09, 2019

Assumption has once again been ranked as a top institution of higher learning by U.S. News & World Report in their 2018 Best Colleges rankings, which was released today. Assumption was again ranked among the top 30 best colleges and universities in the North region that offer bachelor and master’s degrees in the area of liberal arts. Assumption is also recognized as a top 20 Best Value School.

The announcement follows last month’s recognition of Assumption by The Princeton Review as one of the “Best 382 Colleges” in the nation as well as in the Northeast region.

“Once again, the academic value of Assumption has been recognized by the renowned U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Guide,” said Assumption President Francesco C. Cesareo, Ph.D. “The skills and knowledge obtained through a liberal arts education is critical to one’s success regardless of area of expertise. The modern workplace demands individuals who possess knowledge in a number of areas who are able to think critically, communicate effectively, pose the right questions, and analyze data rather than simply memorize a set of facts. Assumotion’s Catholic and Assumptionist identity compels the Assumption community to educate the whole student through a comprehensive liberal arts curriculum that encourages the development of compassionate individuals who will use their gifts and talents to better the world in which they live.”

The U.S. News & World Report rankings for regional colleges and universities are based on several key measures of quality: peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving.

The Assumption curriculum enables students to gain a depth and breadth of knowledge that leads to professional success and personal fulfillment. Students—whether studying on the Worcester, Massachusetts or Rome, Italy campus—become engaged participants in Assumption’s classic liberal arts education and professional programs, exploring new ideas, making connections across disciplines, and pushing themselves to achieve more than they ever thought possible. To prepare for the workforce, students learn cutting-edge theory and best practices and take advantage of internships locally, nationally and internationally, providing them with learning experiences where they can apply the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom.
