Celebrating our Greyhounds with AU Achieves
AU Achieves shines a light on the incredible achievements of our students and recent graduates. From standout internships and research projects to community impact and career success, these stories reflect not only what Greyhounds do, but who they become through their Assumption experiences.
Our Greyhounds win National Awards
“My professors and their research have inspired my desire to contribute to the field. I feel really lucky that I have the professors that I do, and that they’ve pushed me to explore these opportunities.”
Lindsey Kuniewich received the 2024 National Organization for Human Services Outstanding Student award. Kuniewich is a human services major with a concentration in communication sciences and disorders, which prepares students to work with patients in the field of speech-language pathology or audiology. She also has a minor in women’s studies. This is the second year in a row that an Assumption student has won the award, following alumna Katy Cannistraro ’24 last year.

Mark Carpentier ’18
Wealth Management Advisor at Merrill Lynch
Finding a Future in Finance
“Assumption not only made me a better citizen and better person–it also made me a critical thinker and more spiritually minded. If I had only gone to business school, I don’t think I would be the same person at all.”
Mark Carpentier found his way to his current career by making connections with Assumption alumni on campus. His liberal arts education proved to be a life-changing experience that informs how he approaches his work today and allows him to better serve his clients.
Meaningful Internships Lead to Meaningful Careers
“By the time I became an intern in the WooSox front office, experiential learning taught me to take pieces that I learned from my courses and apply them here in the real world.”
Alex Dumais came to Assumption knowing that her passions lay in the world of sports. Through our partnership with the Worcester Red Sox, she found an internship she loved, which has since translated into a full-time position with the team. Dumais credits her time at Assumption for helping her to learn how to embrace flexibility and adaptability in her professional life.

Shekinah Kunamagire ’26
From Salisbury Street to South Bend
“The benefit of the 3:2 program is that you get to have a liberal arts education in a smaller, supportive setting and then go on to get the Bachelor of Science in engineering. I can’t explain how grateful I am for this degree.”
Shekinah Kanamugire ’26 was born in Kigali, Rwanda, and became an international student in high school. Always interested in planes, Kanamugire is pursuing aerospace engineering through Assumption’s 3:2 program – she will receive a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Assumption and a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Notre Dame in only 5 years.
