Recognition to Celebrate

An email message sent to the Assumption Community on September 25, 2025:

Dear Assumption Community,

In the past several weeks, Assumption has been awarded recognition by leading publications including Money, Forbes, the Princeton Review, and U.S. News and World Report.

These annual rankings lists should never be seen as the total measure of the value of a college education, but they are valid indicators. They indicate the excellence of our faculty, the strong outcomes and return on investment for our graduates, and—as a whole—the positive momentum of our University.

In a higher education landscape where some institutions are struggling, we are thriving. In the U.S. News and World Report rankings released Tuesday, we climbed seven spots to be named a Top 50 university in the north. Perhaps more importantly, we are in the Top 15% of all universities in that category for providing value for our students. Money echoed these same points, with Assumption recognized as just one of 23 institutions out of more than a hundred in Massachusetts to receive four or more stars in their ratings.

Thanks to you, we are not only rising in these rankings, but together as a community in the ways that matter most. And we are rising at a time when confidence in the value of higher education is rising as well. A recent Vanderbilt University poll found that nearly half of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in higher education, with 80% saying that a college education is important for a young person to succeed. We know that higher education, especially the kind in which we are engaged here—Catholic liberal education—equips and empowers people to navigate times of rapid change better than anything else.

Thank you for all that you do to sustain this positive momentum for Assumption. These rankings are cause to celebrate each other, and our hard work together. With or without these rankings, our work will continue as we seek to rise ever higher, strive ever further, and illuminate the power of an Assumption University education for all to see.

Sincerely,

Greg Weiner, Ph.D.
President
