Assumption University’s Clinical Counseling Psychology program has prepared students for careers as licensed mental health counselors for more than 50 years, earning national distinction from the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies as an outstanding program in the field.
The Master’s in Clinical Counseling program is designed to meet the educational requirements for licensure as a Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts, and graduates join a large network of alumni in successful, rewarding careers — many placed through strong relationships with agencies eager to hire from the program. Full-time students can complete the degree in two years.
Students learn from a faculty of psychologists, mental health counselors, and social workers with deep clinical experience across diverse populations and community settings. The curriculum offers optional concentrations in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies and Child and Family Interventions, allowing students to tailor their training to specific areas of interest. While academically and clinically rigorous, the program is built around a strong culture of faculty and peer support to help students succeed.
Faculty maintain active research programs, and students can apply for one of the Graduate Fellowships awarded each year, gaining the opportunity to work closely with a faculty mentor on ongoing research.
