Zareen Barry’s focus and interest in nursing and nursing education are based on the concepts of compassion, equity, and the common good. She has worked in many realms of health and health care, including clinical and epidemiological research, patient care coordinating, nursing, and nursing education. She came into nursing from a background in public health. Public health has laid the foundation for her bio-ecological perspective of health that focuses on health promotion and disease prevention.
