The Assumption University community joins the community of Catholics worldwide in mourning the passing of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. As a scholar-pope and a specialist in Saint Augustine and Saint Bonaventure, he was a uniquely powerful model of Saint Anselm’s motto of “faith seeking understanding.” His combination of pastoral care and scholarly inquiry serves as enduring examples for an institution of Catholic liberal education like Assumption University.
