Assumption University and Provost Marc Guerra are pleased to announce that Dr. Jennifer Morton has been appointed the next Dean of the Froelich School of Nursing, effective June 2025.

“We are very pleased to appoint Dr. Jennifer Morton as the next Dean of the Froelich School of Nursing,” said Provost Marc Guerra. “A proven leader in nursing education and healthcare, I am confident Dr. Morton will build on the remarkable success that the Froelich School of Nursing has already achieved and further Assumption’s growing reputation as a school where Catholicism’s rich understanding of the human person informs students’ education in the art and science of nursing.”

Morton joins Assumption from the Westbrook College of Health Professions at the University of New England, where she serves as the Executive Director of the School of Nursing. Previously, she served as the Dean of the Westbrook College of Health Professions and Director of the Department of Nursing at the University of New England. She also has been a tenured associate professor at UNE since 2012.

Morton received both her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She received her associate’s degree in nursing from Westbrook College and her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Southern Maine, Portland. Her research focuses on community-based care, particularly with vulnerable populations, and has worked in these settings both in the United States and abroad.

“I am pleased to be joining the Assumption University community as Dean of the School of Nursing,” said Morton. “I look forward to working with our faculty, staff, and administrators to support Assumption’s quality programming and growth.”
