Shining Their Light
Business Tax Services Department, Deloitte & Touche Boston Office
At the Accounting Career Fair, I networked with several different companies - including Deloitte.
Because of Assumption, I have the understanding of the important accounting principles necessary to do the job, but I was also given the skills that go beyond the field of accounting which allowed me to distinguish myself from other applicants.
Marketing Freelancer, Telemundo
Assumption exposed me to new and exciting opportunities that wouldn’t have been possible elsewhere.
I wanted to learn what it would be like to work in journalism, a field I’m very passionate about, and Assumption afforded me this opportunity. Professor O'Hara was a huge influence in my decisions. She believed in me and guided me towards my professional and personal goals.
Engineering Science 2019
Software Engineer, Twitter
It’s so important to value and maximize the opportunities available to you as a college student.
Through the academic programs at Assumption, combined with the support of various faculty members, I was able to grow as a student, create a solid foundation, and pursue a career at the same company where I interned.
4th Grade Teacher, Worcester Public Schools
Assumption's education department thoroughly prepared me to become a teacher.
My experiences working in admissions, residential life, and academic support provided me with skills for my profession as well. I learned to be a better public speaker, problem solver, community builder, team player and more. I had such a positive experience at Assumption!
Digital Leadership Development Program Associate, Raytheon
The curriculum and professors at Assumption have helped me grow as a versatile young professional.
Not only have I gained the technical knowledge needed in the field, I also received professional guidance from Professor Albert and the rest of the department’s faculty. As a result, I participated in an internship and was offered a full-time job before graduating.
Researcher, American Antiquarian Society; Research Fellow, Assumption Honors Program
Assumption is a place where you will grow as a student, a person, and a member of society.
With the guidance and encouragement from faculty and my peers, it was possible for me to participate in incredible research and fellowship opportunities. I was able to reach my fullest potential as a student and will carry with me so many invaluable experiences.
Investment Sales Associate, Fidelity Investments
Assumption's liberal arts, service and leadership opportunities have been great assets to me.
The culture at Fidelity reminds me of Assumption. It's a place where people support each other and form meaningful relationships which is very easy for me to do since the emphasis at Assumption was to always be thoughtful and compassionate.
Research & Development / Quality Control Intern, Randolph Products
Assumption provides opportunities to form relationships that can be pivotal in your career.
From the moment you step on campus, join clubs, expand your social horizons, and do not be afraid to network and attend school functions. Assumption is your home away from home so try new things and have fun because these four years fly by faster than you expect!
Undergraduate Research Intern, UMass Medical School Neurobiology Department
At my internship, I experienced what it’s like to work in a medical research lab.
I worked with Professor Lemons researching genes involved with neuronal development in c. elegans. The labs I had to take for many classes helped me gain hands-on experience with the techniques I would later need for my internship.
Emergency Mental Health Intern, UMass Memorial Hospital; Mental Health Counselor, Walden Behavioral Care; Pursuing Master of Science in Mental Health at UMass Boston
Through Assumption, my clinical experience at UMass landed me my first post-grad job.
Assumption’s supportive, inclusive, and positive atmosphere sets it apart from any other institution. Assumption provided me with endless opportunities for research, conference presentations, and clinical experiences which all aided in my success and has allowed me to excel.
Political Science 2020
Intern, World Affairs Council of Connecticut
I had the esteemed opportunity to attend the World Affairs Councils of America Conference in D.C.
My ambition for a career in global affairs was enhanced by this opportunity to mingle and learn from like-minded peers, including Chuck Hagel, former Secretary of Defense. Assumption encouraged me and helped me achieve this dream and be 1 of 27 students from the U.S. chosen!
Data Analytics 2020
REU Fellow, Maryland Sea Grant Research Experience for Undergraduates
My professors supported me and supplied me with the knowledge and critical thinking skills I needed.
At my internship, I learned the basics of physical oceanography and applied that knowledge to the data analysis of the Indian Ocean. I even had the honor of presenting these findings at a symposium at the end of the summer.
Human Services and Rehabilitation Studies 2019
Community Relations Assistant, Worcester Red Sox
I want to give back to the community and give back to the youth since they are the next generation.
I want to help youths ideally through sports. Whatever I can do to help people is what I want to pursue for a career. Through Assumption’s partnership with the Red Sox minor league baseball team, I’ve been given this opportunity.
