Shining Their Light
Business Tax Services Department, Deloitte & Touche Boston Office
At the Accounting Career Fair, I networked with several different companies - including Deloitte.
Because of Assumption, I have the understanding of the important accounting principles necessary to do the job, but I was also given the skills that go beyond the field of accounting which allowed me to distinguish myself from other applicants.
Marketing Freelancer, Telemundo
Assumption exposed me to new and exciting opportunities that wouldn’t have been possible elsewhere.
I wanted to learn what it would be like to work in journalism, a field I’m very passionate about, and Assumption afforded me this opportunity. Professor O'Hara was a huge influence in my decisions. She believed in me and guided me towards my professional and personal goals.
Human Services and Rehabilitation Studies 2019
Intern, Pawtucket Red Sox
I want to give back to the community and give back to the youth since they are the next generation.
I want to help youths ideally through sports. Whatever I can do to help people is what I want to pursue for a career. Through Assumption’s partnership with the Red Sox minor league baseball team, I’ve been given this opportunity.
Quality Control Analyst, American Transit Insurance Company
Assumption connected me with alumni at American Transit Insurance Company that resulted in a job!
During my internship, I worked with all of their departments to gain an understanding of how the insurance business works. I was well prepared to take on New York City as I began my post-grad career at the company that I interned with.
Art History 2015
Senior Museum Educator and Art Educator, New York Historical Society / Resident Curator, Canaan Baptist Church of Christ
Assumption has prepared and molded me for success in all aspects of my unique field.
I am thankful for the transferable skills that I've developed in art, art history, and history, and for my professors teaching me how to make art history fun, fascinating, and engaging!
Teacher, Saint John Paul II Catholic Academy / Pursued a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, Boston College Lynch School
Assumption prepared me better than I could have ever imagined.
From rigorous training in planning for all academic subjects as well as ample field experience, I felt extremely prepared to enter the professional world. Professors challenge you while also serving as mentors. They guided me to where I am today.
Interactive Media Producer, Boston College
The Broadcast Journalism and TV Productions classes taught me so much about my future career.
In my experience at the College and since I’ve graduated, I’ve also learned that it’s okay to make mistakes. Mistakes are something you learn from, so don’t be afraid to make them.
Research & Development / Quality Control Intern, Randolph Products
Assumption provides opportunities to form relationships that can be pivotal in your career.
From the moment you step on campus, join clubs, expand your social horizons, and do not be afraid to network and attend school functions. Assumption is your home away from home so try new things and have fun because these four years fly by faster than you expect!
Undergraduate Research Intern, UMass Medical School Neurobiology Department
At my internship, I experienced what it’s like to work in a medical research lab.
I worked with Professor Lemons researching genes involved with neuronal development in c. elegans. The labs I had to take for many classes helped me gain hands-on experience with the techniques I would later need for my internship.
Clinical Student Intern, UMass Medical School; Relief Counselor, Open Sky Community Services; Pursuing Master of Social Work at Bridgewater State University
I took what I learned in class and saw it come to life through my internship.
I learned how to advocate for myself and how to work with patients - a skill I will utilize in graduate school. I believe Assumption and the people here have made me search for myself and understand what I am meant to do.
Political Science 2020
Intern, World Affairs Council of Connecticut
I had the esteemed opportunity to attend the World Affairs Councils of America Conference in D.C.
My ambition for a career in global affairs was enhanced by this opportunity to mingle and learn from like-minded peers, including Chuck Hagel, former Secretary of Defense. Assumption encouraged me and helped me achieve this dream and be 1 of 27 students from the U.S. chosen!
Data Analytics 2020
REU Fellow, Maryland Sea Grant Research Experience for Undergraduates
My professors supported me and supplied me with the knowledge and critical thinking skills I needed.
At my internship, I learned the basics of physical oceanography and applied that knowledge to the data analysis of the Indian Ocean. I even had the honor of presenting these findings at a symposium at the end of the summer.
