Class Notes

1963

Four members of the of the Class of 1963 enjoyed lunch together recently in Portland, ME. Among the classmates who gathered were, from left, John Massaro, Mark LaPointe, Jim Prevet, and Libby Ginnetti.

1964

Celebrating their 60th Reunion in June were Don D’Amour, Marc LePain,and Fr. Richard Lamoureux, A.A.  They spoke with classmate Leo Roberge by phone in Syracuse, NY.

1969

Members at the Class of 1969 at their 55th Reunion. What a wonderful time the men had in our new Pierre’ Pub gathering space.

1972

Irene (Shea) McGee ’72 and her husband, Al ’68, G’72, in Rye Beach, NH, this summer.Renie recently competed in Canada with her Dragon Boat rowing team from Florida and won a gold medal in their division.

1975

Dave Kennedy, PhD is the Co-Chair, Australia for the Asia-Pacific Harris-Walz Leadership Committee, and a Finance Committee Member for the Democratic National Committee. This photo with Vice-President Kamala Harris was taken at a Biden-Harris Fundraising Event in Massachusetts on July 20, the day before President Biden withdrew from the presidential race. Dave recently founded Career Science Pty Ltd (careerscience.com.au), a career coaching firm based in Australia. He continues as Managing Director of drdavekennedy.com, a fundraising and philanthropic advisory firm.

1977

More than a dozen alumni enjoyed getting together at Chris Froelich’s home on the Jersey Shore. In attendance were. 1980

1984

1981-85

Assumption friends Bob O’Brien ’84, Dennis House ’85, and John Shea ’81 reunited for a concert in Hartford, CT. The trio were at a Journey and Queen tribute concert at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater.

1986

Bob & Christine (Ayers) Martin celebrated the wedding of their son, Tom ’16, and his wife, Liz. The proud parents had a wonderful time family and friends, including more than a dozen Assumption University alumni. A picture and details can be found in Tom’s Class of 2016 class note.

1999

Maria Heskes-Allard G’99 was appointed senior vice president, commercial banking relationship manager at Fidelity Bank in Leominster, MA. Maria previously worked at Bay State Savings Bank, where she served as executive vice president, senior lender, and managed the commercial, residential and consumer loan portfolio. She has held various other roles at Clinton Savings Bank, Rollstone Bank & Trust, First Massachusetts Bank, and Bank of Boston. Read More.

2010

Maryanne Leone, professor of modern and classical languages and culture at Assumption, attended Alumni Trivia Night September 12 where she met up with two foreign language graduates now teaching at Chelmsford (Mass.) 2012

Cristina DeFabritiis & Marcus Nichols ’11 were married April 13, 2024. The ceremony was held at Sacred Heart Parish in Watertown, MA ,and the reception was at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy. 2016

Tom Martin and his wife, Liz, were married in May. 2017

Meghan Sullivan 17’, G’21 & Pat Ward ’18 were married in July. The Hound couple said they were thrilled to have so many fellow hounds at the celebration with them.

2015

Worcester City Manager Eric Batista G’15 has been named to the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey said she made the appointment based on Eric’s expertise in transportation planning and policy. The Governor called him a “dedicated public servant.” Eric, a Worcester native who earned his MBA at Assumption, previously served as assistant city manager in Worcester and director of the office of urban innovation. 2018

John P. Schaper ’18 married Mary-Kate C. Haylon at St. Joseph Memorial Chapel at the College of the Holy Cross on July 22, 2023, followed by a reception at Charter Oak Country Club. Pictured are the couple with members of the Assumption community who attended the nuptials. 2018

Big Y Foods has named Steve Nordstrom CE’18 as its new Vice President of Center Store, responsible for center store sales, marketing, and merchandising programs for grocery, health and beauty care, general merchandise, frozen, dairy, as well as space management. Steve, whose grocery career spans 30 years, joined Big Y in 1996 as an Assistant Grocery Manager. He received his B.A. Business Administration from the University’s Center for Continuing Education in 2018.
