Lauren Haynie is Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students. Prior to coming to Assumption, she served as Assistant Vice President for Health, Wellness, and Career Services at Brandeis University—where she also previously served as Director of Athletics. Haynie joined Assumption with more than two decades of experience in higher education, including two years at Assumption as Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine from 2004-2006.
Following her time at Assumption, Haynie served in the same role at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. for seven years. She then returned to New England, where, as Special Assistant to the Athletic Director at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, she administered all aspects of the student-athlete experience and wellbeing program for 33 varsity teams.
After two and a half years as Senior Associate Director of Physical Education, Recreation & Athletics at Wellesley College, Haynie was appointed Athletic Director at Brandeis in 2019. There, she took an active role in divisional strategic planning as well as policy making for diverse areas including personnel management, strategic initiatives, and professional development. Haynie’s leadership led to her current role as Assistant Vice President, where she oversees the Student Health Center; Counseling Center; Prevention, Advocacy & Resource Center; and Hiatt Career Center.
Haynie holds a Master of Education from Old Dominion University, a Master of Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University, and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Penn State University. She earned a Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Diversity Management in Sport from the University of Connecticut and is currently enrolled in UMass Boston’s Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education program.
