Assistant Professor of Practice- Social Work

Jeffrey Trant, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Practice. A dedicated clinical social worker, Dr. Trant’s practice centers on the assessment and treatment of problematic sexual behavior across the lifespan, with a specialized focus on the intersection of trauma and the application of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. 

Dr. Trant is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Massachusetts and holds clinical social work licensure in Connecticut, Florida, Michigan, New Hampshire, and Texas. He is an EMDRIA Certified Therapist™ and a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP). 

In addition to his academic responsibilities, Dr. Trant maintains a private practice in Western Massachusetts. His extensive professional background includes serving as the Executive Director of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Franklin County and North Quabbin, and as the Director of the Office of Safe Environment and Victim Assistance for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield. Throughout his career, he has held numerous direct practice and leadership roles in organizations across Massachusetts. In 2017, Governor Charlie Baker appointed Dr. Trant to the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Social Workers, where he completed a five-year term.
