Chad Rohman became Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Assumption University in June 2026, following a nationwide search. As chief academic officer, he leads academic strategy, faculty excellence, and the University’s mission rooted in liberal education and the Catholic intellectual tradition.
He came to Assumption from Dominican University in Illinois, where he served as Dean of the Rosary College of Arts, Education, and Sciences — the institution’s largest academic division. There he oversaw hundreds of faculty, launched new programs including a data science major, and helped shape strategic planning and inter-institutional partnerships. His more than two decades in higher education also include roles as department chair, director of core curriculum, and faculty trustee.
A scholar of nineteenth-century American literature, Rohman focuses on American literary realism and writers including Mark Twain and Flannery O’Connor. He is the former editor of The Mark Twain Annual and current president of The Mark Twain Circle.
He holds a Ph.D. in English from Bowling Green State University and an M.A. and B.A. in English from Michigan State University.
