Worcester, MA and Paxton, MA—May 1, 2026—Assumption University and Anna Maria College today announced their intent to submit a joint proposal to relevant regulatory agencies to transition Anna Maria’s nursing program to Assumption University.

Assumption President Greg Weiner said, “Our focus is simple: students who have begun their education should be able to complete it without disruption. We are prepared to provide a home for Anna Maria nursing students and to support them in continuing their studies with clarity, stability, and purpose.”

The proposal, currently in development, is intended to create a clear and supported path forward for Anna Maria nursing students while strengthening nursing education in Central Massachusetts.

Anna Maria President Sean Ryan added, “Our responsibility is to ensure that our students are able to move forward and complete their education. Assumption’s nursing program is widely respected for its quality, outcomes, and commitment to students, and we are confident that this proposal provides a strong and stable path forward for our students.”

If approved, the proposal would enable Anna Maria nursing students to continue their studies at Assumption University with minimal interruption, supported by individualized advising and a coordinated transition plan. Assumption’s nursing program—recognized for its strong outcomes, including a 100% NCLEX licensure pass rate—would expand its capacity to serve additional students while maintaining its standards of quality and personal attention.

The proposal will be submitted to the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing for review. Both institutions are working to finalize the details and will share additional information with students and families as it becomes available.
