Assumption Promotes Eight Faculty to Full Professor

In recognition of their continued commitment to excellence in teaching, this fall, eight Assumption faculty members were promoted to full professor. 

“These eight professors are exemplars of excellence in scholarship, engagement in the classroom and leadership in the campus community,” said Greg Weiner, Ph.D., provost and academic vice president.  “Assumption is renowned for faculty who are committed to providing students with a liberal education grounded in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition. We are pleased to honor these faculty members for their contributions to that mission.”

The following faculty members were recently promoted to full professor: 

  • Richard Bonanno, Ph.D., professor of Italian in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages & Culture
  • Elizabeth Colby-Davie, Ph.D., professor of chemistry in the Department of Biological and Physical Sciences
  • Kristen Carella, Ph.D., professor of English in the Department of English
  • David Crowley, Ph.D., professor of biology in the Department of Biological and Physical Sciences
  • Esteban Loustaunau, Ph.D., professor of Spanish in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages & Culture, and director of the new Center for Purpose and Vocation
  • Michele Lemons, Ph.D., professor of biology in the Department of Biological and Physical Sciences
  • Smriti Rao, Ph.D., professor of economics in the Department of Economics, Finance and International Business
  • Geoffrey Vaughan, D.Phil., professor of political science in the Department of Political Science
