Assumption Launches New Certificate Program in Healthcare Leadership

Assumption University’s Grenon School of Business has announced a new Certificate in Healthcare Leadership that will launch in the fall of 2025. This program will help graduate-level students to develop skills essential to becoming effective leaders in the healthcare industry.
“Hiring managers in the healthcare industry are consistently on the lookout for candidates who possess healthcare leadership certificates. These credentials not only reflect a dedication to professional growth but also indicate a deep understanding of the intricacies involved in healthcare management,” said Shannon Housh, a clinical consultant and Assumption adjunct faculty member who serves as the program coordinator for this certificate.
“Such certifications equip individuals with critical skills in strategic decision-making, team leadership, and effective communication, making them indispensable assets in enhancing patient care and organizational productivity. As a seasoned leader with over 20 years of experience hiring healthcare professionals, I prioritize selecting candidates with this specialized training. This approach ensures that we onboard professionals who are not only qualified but also equipped to effectively address the challenges posed by today’s dynamic healthcare landscape.”
The program consists of four courses, each taken for three credits each, that can also be applied as electives towards earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Beginning in fall 2025, students who enroll in Assumption’s MBA program can also elect to specialize in Healthcare Leadership by completing this certificate program.
“Assumption is known for educating thoughtful and ethical business leaders,” said Patrick Cullen, Dean of the Grenon School of Business. “With this certificate, we look forward to empowering professionals to advance their careers and step into much-needed leadership roles in this dynamic sector – not only in hospitals, but in medical technology and the supporting industries that also directly influence patient care.”
Applications for the certificate program are now open and will be accepted through August 1 for the fall 2025 cohort. Please visit the official Certificate in Healthcare Leadership webpage for more details on admissions deadlines, the program and its offered courses, and to access the application.
