Class Notes

1965

Charlie Aleksiewicz will be inducted into the Bancroft School Hall of Fame. He retired this fall from Bancroft after 54 years of service. Read more

1971

In October 2024, William Humbert spoke on his third continent—Europe, Africa, and North America—on The Power of Proper Goal Setting.

1972

Ed Neafsey has been appointed by the Governor of New Jersey to serve on the state’s new Clemency Advisory Board. He is also an adjunct professor at Rutgers Law School – Newark, where he teaches a course on the Northern Ireland civil rights movement.

1974

Margaret Lavin Biner has retired—again! This marks her third retirement, this time from Kean University in Union, NJ, where she was a professor of International Marketing. Previously, she served as Assistant Chair of the Online Marketing, Management, and Fashion Programs at Berkeley College. Prior to her academic career, she was the Global Practice Director at Ronin Corporation, an international tech consulting firm, and Executive Issues Director at AT&T (also known as “Designated Thinker”). Now officially retired, she and her husband have relocated to Savannah, GA.

1984

After 40 years of teaching at Miscoe Hill Middle School in Mendon, MA, Fred Oldfield, III retired on June 30, 2024

1992

Rob Callahan was named Administrator of the Year by the Maine Association of Career Technical Education. Read more.

2008

Elizabeth Putnam and her husband Cale are working with the EcoTarium, Museum of Science and Nature in Worcester to honor the memory and vision of their 5-year-old son, Anthony, who passed away unexpectedly in January 2024. The EcoTarium is developing an Early Childhood Science Learning Center, opening in late 2026, that will feature an interactive exhibit called “Change the World.” This exhibit shares Anthony’s vision for a brighter future with clean oceans, no litter, and an end to homelessness and war. The goal of this exhibit is to inspire both children and adults to think about how they too can make the world a better place. The Putnam family welcomes all alumni to a fundraiser night at the museum on April 5. Michael Turaj recently accepted a promotion to Public Affairs & Policy Advisor at Operation Fuel, Inc., a nonprofit based in Hartford, CT, that provides emergency utility assistance to Connecticut households in financial crisis.
