On Monday, April 7, the entire Assumption community–students, faculty, and staff–will devote a day of service to Worcester area organizations and give back to the city we are proud to call home.

On Monday, all students, faculty, and staff should report to their departure location to meet their assigned service site team by 8:45 a.m. Please refer to the email you received from the Office of Student Affairs for your service site assignment and departure location, and contact Neejaa Edmonds (n.edmonds@assumption.edu) with any questions.

Participants can anticipate returning to campus by 1:30 p.m. Following the day of service, all participants are invited to a barbeque and community celebration in the Plourde Recreation Center Laska Gym.

While all classes are canceled for the day, afternoon and evening campus activities will proceed as scheduled.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is going?

All students are required to participate in lieu of classes alongside faculty and staff leaders.

Why are we doing this?

We are living out our Assumptionist-inspired mission in a way that animates our community and demonstrates our commitment to cultivate the common good. We know that Assumption is a special place where Hounds help Hounds, and we want to spread that spirit to our wider Worcester community.

What if I don’t want to serve at the site I was assigned?

While we strongly encourage all students to serve at the site they have been assigned, if you have any concerns, please email Neejaa Edmonds (n.edmonds@assumption.edu) or come to see us during one of our tabling sessions in Hagan from 03/25-03/27 and 04/01-04/03.

Do I have to take the provided transportation to my site? Why can’t I drive myself?

Yes, all students must take the transportation provided to their site since this is a mandatory University-sponsored event. This will also make the day easier on students and our participating service site partners – many of whom have parking constraints at their location.

Will lunch be provided?

Lunch may be provided at some sites as part of the day’s schedule. We recommend all students eat a hearty breakfast, and invite all to participate in the celebratory barbeque following the day of service.
