Evan Reichenthal ’20, US Marine, History Major, Lux Minor

Evan served in the US Marine Corps as an Infantryman, and was deployed to the Helmand Province, Afghanistan. He bravely fought in the Battle for Marjah, deployed behind enemy lines to fight the Taliban. As a result of the intense battle, Evan was subsequently wounded by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). Due to the severity of his wounds, he fell into a coma for some time, and upon waking, had to endure 2 months in the ICU. During that 2 months Evan had 45 major surgeries (roughly one a day), and from there, had to relearn how to walk, talk, and run. Due to Evan’s incredibly exceptional perseverance, he completed what was supposed to be 2 years of rehabilitation in just under 6 months. Evan received the Purple Heart for his actions in Afghanistan, as well as numerous other commendations. Upon leaving the Marine Corps, Evan began his freshman year at Assumption a couple of months after finishing rehabilitation. Evan is currently a junior pursuing a History major with a Lux minor. Evan’s career goals are to pursue a career in law upon graduation.
