FOCUS Missionaries to Begin Collaboration with Campus Ministry

Assumption has announced that the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) has responded positively to Assumption’s request to send a team of four “missionaries,” recent college graduates, to collaborate with Campus Ministry staff. The missionaries will devote their energies to working one-on-one with students, helping them to re-engage with or deepen their faith.
Of the two-hundred or so universities in the country to benefit from such a partnership with FOCUS, Assumption is the only Catholic institution of higher learning in New England – and one of fewer than ten nationwide – that FOCUS has selected to work with.
“Assumption is really delighted to welcome four young FOCUS missionaries to our campus,” shared Fr. Richard Lamoureux, A.A., vice president of mission. “Their work will nicely complement the work of our current staff and the many programs they offer. While many students are actively engaged in Campus Ministry’s offerings, there are many others that we would like to be reaching out to with the Gospel. Through this collaboration, I am hopeful that many more students will find the means to grow in their life of faith.”
Assumption’s current Campus Ministry staff will continue to coordinate existing programming such as retreats, service opportunities and trips, and liturgical activities. The goal of the FOCUS missionaries will be to share the hope and joy of the Gospel with students, inspiring and equipping them for a lifetime of Christ-centered evangelization.
