College Choice Ranks Assumption as a 2016 “Best College in the North”

Jan 04, 2019

College Choice has included Assumption in its 2016 “Best College in the North” rankings. Assumption is the only Worcester school on the list. This announcement follows the recognition of Assumption as a 2016 “Best Regional College” by U.S. News & World Report in September and inclusion in The Princeton Review’s “Best 380 Colleges” in August.

The College Choice 2016 rankings list is based on several key measures of quality: academic reputation, average amount of scholarship and grant aid per student, overall net cost, and the average starting salary for graduates.

“Every college ranking involves decisions about what elements of a college to consider,” said Jeremy Alder, managing editor of College Choice. “You can’t measure or include everything, so why not go with what real students said they valued most in making their own college decision?”

The Assumption curriculum enables students to gain a depth and breadth of knowledge that leads to professional success and personal fulfillment. Students—whether studying on the Worcester, Massachusetts or Rome, Italy campus—become engaged participants in Assumption’s classic liberal arts education and professional programs, exploring new ideas, making connections across disciplines, and pushing themselves to achieve more than they ever thought possible. To prepare for the workforce, students learn cutting-edge theory and best practices, and develop excellent communication and critical-analysis skills through classroom work, internships, and involvement in athletics, intramural, and student activities and clubs.

Assumption, rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition, strives to form graduates known for critical intelligence, thoughtful citizenship and compassionate service. Community service is at the heart of Assumption’s identity. Each year, Assumption students, through community service and internships, contribute countless hours to the city of Worcester and partner with a variety of civic and charitable organizations to benefit local residents.
