Assumption University’s Campus Police Department has been awarded $33,000 from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’s Violence Against Women Act, Services Training Officers Prosecutors (VAWA STOP) Grant Program to enhance the partnership between the University’s Campus Police and Pathways for Change.

The grant program recognized 37 community-based organizations, police departments and state agencies from across Massachusetts with grants totaling nearly $3 million. According to the state, this program, which is administered by the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s Office of Grants and Research (OGR), “aims to strengthen the criminal justice system’s response to domestic violence and sexual assault while enhancing services for survivors.”

“VAWA STOP grant funding has assisted Assumption University in providing critical prevention and trauma-response resources to women impacted by domestic violence or sexual assault,” said Lt. Rebecca Gagne, deputy director of operations for Campus Police.
