Assumption Ranked Among The Princeton Review’s Best 384 Colleges for 2019

Assumption has been named among the best colleges in the nation, according to The Princeton Review in the newest edition of its college guide, The Best 384 Colleges.
“Deepening and broadening the foundations of students’ learning in their major and minor fields of study, the Assumption community cultivates the habits of mind, learning practices and skills, passion for truth, and love of wisdom that are hallmarks of an Assumption liberal arts education,” said Francesco C. Cesareo, Ph.D., president of Assumption. “The Assumption community is proud to be recognized by The Princeton Review and our student body for our strong academics and welcoming campus. As an institution with a curriculum firmly rooted in the liberal arts, Assumption is committed to forming well-rounded individuals who use the knowledge and skills obtained here to make a meaningful difference in the world.”
According to the guide’s editors, students described Assumption as “a tight knit, faith-based community where everyone is part of a family” that “focuses on ‘educating aware and prospective young adults to become active and productive members of society while maintaining human core values’ through ‘service, meaningful discussions, and liberal arts classes.’”
In this year’s guide, students applauded Assumption for the caring, “approachable,” and “engaging” professors, as well as its dedication to students’ success. According to the guide’s editors, Assumption “focuses on giving its students every resource possible to help them succeed and be happy; tutoring is provided at the academic center, campus jobs are ‘abundant,’ and the Career and Internship center admirable aids students in finding jobs after graduation.” Supporting these statements is a recent survey that found 94 percent of Assumption’s Class of 2017 was either employed, pursuing additional education, or engaged in community service within six months of graduation, and 81 percent participated in at least one internship, research, or experiential learning opportunity as an undergraduate.
In additional to outstanding faculty and supportive staff, Assumption has a “great sense of belonging,” as one student said, according to The Princeton Review. Students described their peers as “generally happy,” very sociable and approachable,” and according to the editors, “Overall, the student body ‘is like no other’: People ‘genuinely care about each other and it makes for a wonderful experience.’”
One of The Princeton Review’s most popular guides, The Best 384 Colleges rankings are based on surveys of more than 100,00 students at hundreds of notable institutions of higher learning.
