Announcing Kristen White as VP for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
An email message sent to the campus community on May 8, 2024:
Dear Assumption Community,
Vision II of Thrive, our new 10-year strategic plan, calls on Assumption to make every decision based on what’s ultimately best for our students. That’s what the decision I’m announcing today is: the appointment of Kristen White as Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students.
As you likely know, Kristen has served in this role in an interim capacity since the beginning of the year. In the intervening months, she has shown a clear-eyed commitment to our students—and to creating a culture in Student Affairs that embraces active listening, innovation, and education. Kristen joined the Assumption family in 2022 as the Director of Residential Life, and brought with her extensive experience in student affairs, including in residential life and housing matters, student conduct, academic coaching, and new student orientation. She received a B.A. in psychology from Merrimack College in 2009 and a Master of Science in College Student Personnel Administration from Canisius College in 2013. In her role as Vice President and Dean of Students, Kristen will continue to oversee Health Services, Counseling Services, the Plourde Recreation Center, Residential Life, Summer Orientation, and the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement. Kristen and her husband, Brandon, frequently attend student events and activities with their three small children: Addison, Mason, and Cameron.
Kristen is fulfilling the commitment I made the first day I was appointed Interim President: to treat students like adults, to empower them, to urge them to challenge us, and to challenge them in turn. Please join me in congratulating Kristen on this career milestone.
Sincerely,
Greg Weiner, Ph.D.
President
