Independent Scholarships
All students are encouraged to seek out and apply for appropriate financial aid assistance. The responsibility for financing Graduate School rests with the graduate student.
Assumption University does not sponsor any individual scholarship listed below and is thus not responsible for eligibility requirements. This document is merely a guide to opportunities available to graduate students and is not an exhaustive list.
SCHOLARSHIPS AND FELLOWSHIPS
The American Indian Graduate School Scholarship: administers graduate fellowships for American Indian and Alaska Native students from federally recognized tribes. www.aigc.com
The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF): Helps both undergrad and graduate students complete their education. Competitive, awards range from $1000-$3000. www.hsf.net
Deaf Queer Youth Scholarship: $500 scholarship for deaf, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, or queer students. Must be enrolled in college, under the age of 25, and have a 2.5 minimum GPA. https://www.finaid.org/otheraid/lgbt.phtml#general
The Point Foundation: The Point foundation is a national publicly-funded scholarship fund that provides undergraduates and graduate students that are marginalized because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Awards amounts vary based on need and are renewed annually. You must maintain a 3.0 GPA to keep the scholarship. For more information contact:

The Roothbert Fund Inc: Open to all Graduate Students of any major, they will also offer grants to students to Massachusetts. Favor individuals who are looking for a careers in education. Awards average $2000-4000 a year and are renewable. Student must go for an interview in March – (New Haven being the closest to Assumption). The Fund seeks candidates who are “motivated by spiritual values” and works to foster fellowship among them.

The South Norfolk County Arc (SNCARC): Offers up to five scholarships to juniors, seniors, and graduate students who are studying Special Education. Deadline is in April. Andrew Bell Scholarship: Offered by the Urban League of Rhode Island to assist graduates with financial aid need who wish to pursue a higher level of education at an accredited college or university. John Gyles Education Awards: Awards given to Canadian and US citizens in all areas of post-secondary education. Website: www.johngyleseducationcenter.com
The Rhode Island Foundation: Applicants can apply for scholarships in a wide range of criteria. Information on website: www.rifoundation.org
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc: Offers scholarships programs to students in education, counseling and general studies both at the undergraduate and graduate level. Funds range from $500-$2500. Website: www.ZphiB1920.org
American Association of University Woman: Offers scholarships for woman who hold a bachelor’s degree and are preparing to advance their career, change careers, or re-enter the work field.
