Assumption Band performance

Assumption University is pleased to now offer band scholarships, based on an audition, of $2,500 –  $10,000 to incoming first-year students who demonstrate exceptional instrumental talent in woodwinds, brass, and percussion and who commit to participate in the Assumption University Band or Jazz Ensemble. The scholarship is renewable each year for instrumentalists who want to be part of an advanced level artistic experience and high quality ensemble and instrumentation.

The deadline to apply for this scholarship for the 2024-2025 academic year is April 1, 2024. As soon as possible, students should download and review the application requirements. The Assumption University Band is comprised of nearly 50 musicians and includes mostly students, with additional alumni, faculty, and some players from the general community. They rehearse every week in the Curtis Performance Hall which is located in the state-of-the-art Tsotsis Family Academic Center. This newly built space includes a rehearsal room and 400-seat performance hall. The band plays at least two full performances every semester, and the band, or ensembles from the band, also play for special events at the University throughout the year.

Offering opportunities for guitarists, keyboardists, bass players as well as wind and percussion, The Assumption University Jazz Ensemble also rehearses each week, plays at least two full performances each academic year, and explores the art of improvisation through traditional and contemporary jazz/fusion literature.
