Yes, COMPASS Orientation is a wonderful opportunity to meet people and become familiar with the Assumption community, resources and tools available to you as a student. You will also meet with an advisor to choose your classes for the fall semester.

One you arrive on campus, signage and Orientation Leaders will point you in the right direction. Orientation begins for both parents/families and students in the Tsotsis Family Academic Center

You may register for Orientation once you receive your confirmation email.

That is perfectly okay if you don’t know what your major is. You will still be able to meet with an advisor during COMPASS Orientation to talk about the core curriculum requirements and what other classes you may be interested in. Faculty, staff and administration are here to help guide you.

You will meet with an advisor for approximately 40 minutes during COMPASS Orientation during which you will discuss your major, academic interests and classes to take in the fall. The advisor with whom you meet may not be your academic advisor for the year.

The College will assign to you a roommate for Orientation. Often, Orientation roommates become lifelong friends after Commencement!

You will not register for courses but you will pick courses you are interested in taking.

COMPASS Orientation is not just about choosing courses, it is also an opportunity to explore student life at Assumption College. This includes meals served in Taylor Dining Hall. When you register for Orientation, you are invited to share specific dietary needs. Taylor Dining Hall recently underwent a complete renovation with new and reconfigured seating and serving stations. The most notable change to the dining hall is the introduction of “Simple Servings,” a new station that serves food free of the most common allergens: peanuts, tree nut, shellfish, wheat, soy, milk products and eggs. During Orientation, a photo will be taken for your official student identification. When you return to campus in August, your identification card will be ready.

As part of getting a taste of student life at Assumption, all students spend the night in one of the resident halls.
