Ensembles at Assumption

Assumption University Chorale

The Assumption University Chorale is an auditioned concert choir which is comprised of men and women who are studying for professions in all walks of life and who share an interest in choral singing. The Chorale includes high-achieving students who have sung in District and All-State Choruses in High School and often includes a number of student leaders, such as Resident Assistants, class officers, and officers and senators of SGA. The Chorale performs a great choral repertoire of all style periods from Gregorian chant to twentieth-century music. Their active performance schedule has included concerts in the United States, as well as performances on radio and television.

Assumption University Band

The Assumption University Band is a 30-40 member ensemble comprised of students, faculty and occasional community members that perform several concerts, at Family Weekend, at the Incoming First Year Student Open House in the Spring and at selected athletic events as well as many special events throughout the school year. The Assumption University Band performs traditional Concert Band scores as well as Pep Band material. Many students choose to take Band for credit (1 credit for each semester -maximum 3 credits) but some do not. There is no audition for entrance, but you should own your own instrument. (In the cases of some larger instruments, instruments may be provided.)

Assumption University Jazz Ensemble

The Assumption University Jazz Ensemble is open to participation by all Assumption University faculty, students, and staff and rehearses downstairs in Founders Hall at 6:30 PM on Monday evenings. For more information, contact dn.jost@assumption.edu.

Assumption University String Camerata

Students who play string instruments can keep up their playing in this chamber ensemble that explores the repertoire for string orchestra.
