Mike Rodier

Director of Recreation

Mike Rodier enters his twelfth year at Assumption in 2018-19, where he serves as the Director of Recreation.  Rodier previously served as the Coordinator of Recreation before being promoted to this position in June 2016.

In his role as the Director of Recreation Michael is charged with the daily oversight and management of the 60,000 sq. ft. Plourde Recreation Center and all the programs it offers the students of Assumption College.  Since being named the director, Michael has overseen the creation of the very popular Hound Hustle competition each spring, implemented a student golfing program at Green Hill Golf Course and has been able to add many new pieces of fitness equipment to the facility each year.  In addition to his duties in Campus Recreation, Michael also sits on many committees and boards throughout Student Affairs.

In his previous role as the Coordinator of Recreation, Michael was responsible for the oversight of the Intramural Program, the Club Sports Program and the Fitness Classes that Campus Recreation offers.  In addition to these duties Michael also assisted with the daily running and managing of the Plourde Recreation Center and its staff.

Prior to joining the Campus Recreation staff, Michael held a position in the Athletics Department as the Equipment Manager.  In this position he was responsible for the issuing, maintaining and collection of all athletic equipment. In the fall of 2014, Rodier implemented a full-scale inventory system using SportSoft, which allows for up-to-the-minute inventory tracking for each of the college's intercollegiate athletic programs. He was also responsible for managing a comprehensive budget for the equipment room, tracking expenses for each athletic program including game equipment, uniforms and other expenditures. In addition, he helped coordinate the usage of athletic logos on the athletic uniforms and practice gear, working on conjunction with the athletic communications office and Kangaroo Crossing, the department's official apparel vendor.

A 2006 undergraduate of Assumption, Rodier earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in history. In addition, he earned his MBA from Assumption in May 2012. As an undergraduate at Assumption, Rodier worked in the athletic department as a work study student during his four years.

Michael currently resides in Oxford, Mass., with his wife, Meghan, their son, Tim, and their daughter Elise.

Michael Aldana-Proulx

Assistant Director of Recreation & Program/Events Coordinator

Michael Aldana-Proulx begins his first year at Assumption College, serving as both the Assistant Director of Recreation and the Advisor to Campus Activities Board in the Office of Student Activities.  Michael attended the College of the Holy Cross, completing his Psychology/Criminal Justice BA thanks to several consortium courses at Assumption.  Upon graduation in 2017, Michael served as the Assistant Director of Student Life at the Cristo Rey High School in California.  Happily back on the East coast, he now lives on the Assumption campus, managing the Intramurals and Club Activities in the Plourde Recreation Center, and leading the Campus Activities Board in Hagan.  

Michael looks forward to visits from his dogs back in NH, holding barbecues, skiing, and playing Ultimate Frisbee, and his door(s) is always open.

Aline Seekins

Program and Events Coordinator/Women's Rowing Head Coach

Aline Seekins begins her fourth year working for the Department of Campus Recreation.  Aline is responsible for the planning and executing of the Department's Fitness Classes and working with all internal and external groups who rent the Plourde Recreation Center.  In addition to these duties she is entering her fourth full season as the Head Coach of the Assumption Women’s Rowing program in 2016-2017.

Last season Seekins led the Hounds to another record breaking season as her team broke two program records in the Dad Vail Regatta. The Varsity 4 had a time of 7:54.2 while Varsity 8 boat set the record at 7:07.7. She also coached the team to win the first NE10 Challenge in five years. 

In her second season, Seekins’ boats posted numerous record-breaking finishes. Her Novice 8 boat set a new school record while her Varsity 8 broke its 30-year-old school record multiple times. The Varsity 8 finished the year with another record finish at the Dad Vail Regatta – establishing a record ten seconds faster than the record which stood in the 30 years leading up to last year. Seekins also had an athlete named Assumption Female Breakthrough Athlete of the Year as a representation of the program’s improvement.

Prior to Assumption, Seekins was an Assistant Women’s Rowing Coach at Florida Institute of Technology for two seasons. While at FIT, she taught novice rowers and assisted with varsity practices, along with coordinating recruiting efforts and assisting with preparation of home regattas.

From 2009-2012, Seekins was a three-year member of the FIT varsity rowing team, where she was named to the 2009-2010 Novice All-Conference Team and was a three-time All-Conference selection overall.

Cheryl Cote

Aquatics Coordinator

Cheryl Cote serves as the aquatics coordinator with the Assumption College Department of Athletics and Recreation and works in the Plourde Recreation Center.

In her position, Cote administers the Learn to Swim program while also training the lifeguard staff at the Plourde Pool. A water safety instructor and lifeguard instructor, she works as a full-time teacher at North High School in Worcester.

Cote is a 1994 graduate of Assumption, where she graduated with a degree in English and psychology.
