Assumption Students, Alumni to Perform 'Les Misérables' April 4-6

Assumption College’s Department of Art, Music and Theatre will present Victor Hugo's classic Les Misérables, its 6th annual spring production at Worcester’s historic Hanover Theatre, April 4-6. This will be the first performance of the Broadway classic by a Worcester-area college or community theatre since the rights to the play were released this year.

Set in 19th century France amidst a backdrop of revolution and unrest, Les Misérables follows the story of Jean Valjean, an ex-convict who leaves behind a life of hatred to become a testament to the redemptive power of love. Epic, grand and uplifting, Les Misérables packs an emotional punch that has thrilled audiences all over the world and overflows with classic songs.

Approximately 45 Assumption students, alumni and faculty, and local children—ranging in ages from 8 to 85—comprise the cast and crew. Alumni Matthew Angelini and Michael Gondek will play the lead roles of Jean Valjean and Police Inspector Javert. Assumption College Visiting Instructor Brian Tivnan is directing and producing the performance.
