Prayer of the Assumption Community in a Time of Pandemic
Members of the Assumption community are invited to join in a time of prayer for an end to the COVID-19 pandemic, for those who have died, for those who are sick, and for those who care for us during this pandemic.
The time of prayer will take place at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 1, the day after Pentecost Sunday when the Catholic Church celebrates the Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church. This ancient feast was reintroduced into the Church's liturgical calendar in 2018 by Pope Francis who cited the scriptural depiction of Mary at the foot of the Cross where she became the Mother of the Church when she “accepted her Son’s testament of love and welcomed all people in the person of the beloved disciple as sons and daughters to be reborn unto life eternal.” The time of prayer, which will originate in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit on the Assumption campus, will include Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and the recitation of the Rosary led by members of Assumption's FOCUS team of missionaries.
All members of the Assumption community -- students, faculty, staff, alumni/ae, benefactors, friends, neighbors -- are welcome to join in this time of prayer which will be broadcast live on the Assumption College Campus Ministry Facebook page.
