He will explain how a single neuropeptide gene in C. elegans regulates behavioral responses to a pheromone cue\, revealing unexpected complexity in a simple nervous system. He will also discuss a specific class of neurons in the zebra finch’s song basal ganglia and how they help the bird maintain its learned song\, drawing parallels to human speech development. \nThis event is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.

Since 2018\, Meneses has been the first female classical guitarist to advocate for the rich traditions of Son Jarocho\, blending its dynamic rhythms with her classical guitar mastery. Supported by a grant from The Boston Foundation\, she has been pivotal in promoting this vibrant style of Mexican music\, which includes dance\, singing\, and the unique playing of the Jarana and Requinto.
