He will explain how a single neuropeptide gene in C. elegans regulates behavioral responses to a pheromone cue\, revealing unexpected complexity in a simple nervous system. He will also discuss a specific class of neurons in the zebra finch’s song basal ganglia and how they help the bird maintain its learned song\, drawing parallels to human speech development. \nThis event is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.
