Assumption's Education Department gave me the necessary skills and tools to effectively manage and teach a classroom of high school students. The college's liberal arts foundation has helped me to become cognizant of the skills students learn from studying history and has shown me how those skills transcend all subjects in school.

I worked on the dementia floor at Eisenberg and learned how to interact and cooperate appropriately with those who have memory issues. From this internship I was able to help manage a whole floor with about 20-25 residents.

Internship: Energy Pricing Analyst at TrueLight Energy

During my time at TrueLight Energy, I was involved in forecasting gas and electric energy prices to clients from regional pricing models.  In addition, I was responsible for building out a retail natural gas and electric supplier contact database to assist the senior sales team. The startup atmosphere showed me the importance of being an effective communicator and team player.

I’ve learned so many things in my courses at Assumption that have helped me with my internship. Thanks to my knowledge of autistic behaviors, language development and communication skills, I feel confident in working with clients. The internship has also taught me how to do discreet trials with Applied Behavior Analysis.

Internship: Chief Research Assistant at UMASS Medical School

During my internship, I managed 15 research assistants, helping them collect data from patients in the emergency department for a new assessment UMASS is working on. I was also involved in quality improvement for the study. One of my research projects was just accepted for presentation at the National Society for Academic Emergency Medicine conference in May!
