DR. WILLIAM SMITH, Director of Financial Aid

It is not too early to begin focusing on financial aid opportunities.

There are a number of resources available to help you finance an Assumption education.  We recommend that every family consider applying for financial aid, regardless of their financial situation.

Assumption College, and others institutions, will require families requesting financial assistance to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), beginning October 1, 2016.

There are a few steps you should strongly consider before you begin the FASFA:

1.  Get your FSA ID.  To complete a FAFSA online, both the parent and student need to apply for a FSA ID.  Your FSA ID acts as an electronic signature that is used for verification upon completing the form.  Apply for your pin online. You can find instructions from Assumption here.

2.  Obtain your Federal School Codes. A Federal School Code number is required for each college to which your child is applying. Obtaining all your needed school codes in advance will save you time. Assumption College's Federal School Code is 002118.

3. Beginning October 1st, 2016 Complete the FAFSA for 2017-2018

Assumption College strongly recommends that you file the FAFSA online.

  • Go to
  • Click "Start A New FAFSA” and follow the instructions for completing the form
  • You should periodically click SAVE, especially if it will take you more than 30 minutes to complete a page. (This will avoid the chances of losing the information you have entered.)
  • At the bottom of each page, be aware of the button "Need Help?" Clicking this at any time allows you to obtain more information about the meaning of a question on that particular page.
