Several of the College’s graduate programs offer Assumption undergraduates the opportunity to pursue an accelerated master’s degree by taking graduate-level courses in their senior year.

An Accelerated Business Degree with Felixibility


The Assumption College MBA program is designed to provide professional development for those who wish to study on a part-time basis and offers the flexibility to take most courses either on-campus or online. A full-time accelerated program, which can be completed in 14 months, is also available to recent undergraduates.  Graduates are qualified to succeed in the private, nonprofit and public sectors of society and hold diverse leadership roles in a wide range of organization types in many industries. With principled leadership a key component of the program, Assumption’s MBA program curriculum emphasizes ethics and values in business.

Assumption undergraduate accounting majors can apply to begin taking graduate-level courses in their senior year, enabling them to complete a 6 year program (BA/MBA) in only 5 years.

Applied Behavior Analysis a Behavior Analyst Certification Board-approved program

The ABA program at Assumption College prepares students for careers as applied behavior analysts who will be well-prepared for both clinical and research-based positions. The ABA curriculum teaches the science of behavior, which is essential for individuals interested in a career involving autism, general and special education, developmental and intellectual disabilities, social work and related fields.

Clinical Counseling Psychology – the only Master’s program in the U.S. incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy throughout the entire curriculum

Psychology majors can continue their studies in the clinical counseling psychology program, recognized by experts in the field as one of the best in the nation for training skilled, effective clinicians, and is the only M.A. program in the U.S. that incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy throughout the entire curriculum.  The program is designed to prepare graduates to meet the educational requirements for licensure as a Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts and most other states. Graduates of the program will be ready to succeed in a workforce that needs counselors with evidence-based practice experience.

Health Advocacy - a flexible online program

The online Health Advocacy Program imparts the knowledge, skills, competencies and habits of mind necessary for aspiring and established healthcare professionals to pursue high-impact careers in case management and health advocacy. The Program integrates key elements of management, social sciences, human services, education and health science in such a way to prepare students to become effective professionals. Graduates from the Health Advocacy program will operate from strengths-based, culturally competent frameworks that value, respect and empower clients/patients and enhances healthcare organizations and systems. A Master of Arts in Health Advocacy is offered as well as a Certificate in Patient Advocacy.

Rehabilitation Counseling – a nationally ranked program with flexible on-campus or online classes

The rehabilitation counseling program offered by Assumption College is ranked among the top programs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report and is fully accredited by the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE).  It develops leaders in the field using a multi-disciplinary approach enhanced by a strong experiential component. Students are prepared to become nationally Certified Rehabilitation Counselors and enter a profession that offers abundant opportunities and personal fulfillment. Graduates of the program are aggressively recruited by agencies both within New England and across the U.S.

School Counseling – a program approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education

The Master of Arts in School Counseling program prepares students to become school (guidance) counselors. The role of the school counselor is dynamic as it provides critical support to students, parents, administrators, teachers, staff and community service providers that varies from day to day. The School Counseling Program trains the future counselor to work with children and adolescents across academic, career, and social-emotional domains. Students learn to collaborate with all stakeholders to support academic and social success and to apply evidenced-based practice for comprehensive school counseling programs. Students are prepared to engage in prevention and intervention planning as well as program evaluation to meet individual student and school-level needs expected as a school counselor.
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has approved Assumption College’s graduate program in School Counseling to issue endorsement for the Initial License as a school guidance counselor (Pre-8 or 5-12). Students who complete the approved program are also eligible for licensure reciprocity with states that are members of the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC) Interstate Contract. Consistent with the National Board Certified School Counselor standards, students will complete a rigorous counselor training program that includes a supervised clinical practicum experience in a public primary and/or secondary school. Completion of the program will deem students eligible for certification as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and National Certified School Counselor (NCSC). 

Assumption College students have the opportunity to enroll in two graduate courses during their senior year, which may be applied towards the M.A. in School Counseling.

Special Education – a rigorous, comprehensive program modeled on Massachusetts DESE guidelines

Assumption’s special education program bridges the gap between theory and practice by providing students with knowledge and experience that prepares them for the classroom. Students establish a foundation for success through a rigorous, comprehensive program modeled on the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) guidelines. Graduates of the program enter the workforce with the tools to succeed in an in-demand area and benefit from consistently high employment rates.

A special five-year program enables Assumption undergraduates to complete requirements for both a BA degree and the MA in Special Education, leading to eligibility for the Massachusetts Initial License for Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8 or 5-12).
