Visual Resources at Assumption

The Assumption College Art Department has a collection of over 20,000 art historical images in slide format. These images are available for educational use across all academic and administrative departments of the college. Please come to the Slide Room and search the database for images by subject, artist, title, country, museum, or period. Once you have made your selections, you can “pull” the slides from carefully marked cabinets. Slide carousels are also available for your use. (But not for long!)* Please feel free to come in and learn more about the collection and how to borrow slides for presentations.

Picture: Episode from The Legend Of The Seven Sleeper Of EphesusAssumption College is in the beginning stages of converting this collection from slide format to digital format. When this process is complete, students and faculty will be able to search the image collection and create presentations from their own computers. In addition, the database will be able to incorporate single slides created by faculty as well as large licensed image collections. The opportunity to share these images across departments and incorporate images from other academic institutions will greatly enhance the educational experience for all. For, as you know, a picture is worth a thousand words.

The image to your left is of a work of art at the Worcester Art Museum and is part of our slide collection. Make the Museum a part of your Assumption experience!

Please email any suggestions or comments about current and future use of images throughout the college to mcostello@assumption.edu
