TELCO Instructions for Employees & On Campus
Vendors
Your single line or multiple line phone is like
a keyboard that gives you access to a very sophisticated computer,
our campus telephone system. The following is intended to give you
information about the most commonly used functions on the phone system.
Information on other functions such as hunt groups, pick up groups,
or any other questions can be obtained by e-mailing telco@assumption.edu
or calling

TRANSFERRING CALLS
• TO TRANSFER A CALL TO ANOTHER EXTENSION:
Press Transfer (multi-line), Flash
or Switch hook from a single line then dial the extension.
• TO TRANSFER CALL
DIRECTLY TO A MAILBOX: Press Transfer (multi-line) or Flash,
Switch hook from a single line…Dial 5599. When equipment
answers it will say “To complete this call transfer, dial
the extension then #2. You may hang up if you are transferring
another person or voice message or continue to hold on if you would
like to leave a message.
FORWARDING CALLS TO YOUR
VOICE MAIL
You have the option to forward either all external (outside) calls or internal
(on-campus) calls or both. Also you can choose to forward only calls that come
in while you are using your phone, or only calls when no one is available to
answer.
TO FORWARD ALL EXTERNAL (OUTSIDE) CALLS:
Press *2, then dial 7099 and hang up.
TO FORWARD ALL INTERNAL (ON-CAMPUS) CALLS:
Press *5, then dial 7099 and hang up.
TO FORWARD CALLS WHEN YOU ARE ON YOUR PHONE (busy)
Press *3, then dial 7099 (external calls)
Press *6, then dial 7099 (internal calls)
TO FORWARD CALLS WHEN NO ONE IS AVAILABLE TO ANSWER
YOUR PHONE:
Press *4, then dial 7099 (external calls)
Press *7, then dial 7099 (internal calls)
NOTE:
When forwarding all calls, the other forward options must be canceled. To cancel
or change your forwarding, enter # plus appropriate digit (2,3,4,5,6,7) (see
above)
DIALING INSTRUCTIONS
Students - dial 6, the number, enter PBN (personal billing number).
Dial 9 for outside line, and then enter number you are calling.
If you are unsure if the number you are calling is a local or a
toll call, try dialing without 1. There is a listing of local cities/townson
the Telco Web Page.
DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE
Local calls - dial 9-555-1212
Long distance - dial 9-1-(area code)
555-1212
There is a cost involved with all Directory Assistance and with Auto-dial by
Directory Assistance. Please write down the numbers provided by Directory Assistance
and dial them yourself.
Credit card calls must be dialed using the
specific card's (800) access number.
Collect Calls - DO
NOT ACCEPT COLLECT CALLS. The cost of the call plus a $10.00 processing
fee will be billed to the person or the extension accepting the call.
Outside Operator - 9-0-0
VOICE MAIL
Unless you share a telephone, your voice mailbox number is the same as your
extension number. Set up your mailbox by dialing 7099 on your phone and
follow the directions. The default password is 123456 for the first time
set up.
If you share a phone your voice mailbox number will be your
extension plus a number suffix (5XXX2).

Enter your Voice Mailbox Number. If shared enter 5 digit number followed
by #. Enter Password and follow system

Off Campus:
To check your voice mail from off campus, call 767-7099. If you hear 'Thank
you for calling Assumption College', press the star key (*). This will
bring you to ‘Enter Personal ID, which is where you need to be,
then enter your mail box number.If you have a shared vmb, you need to
enter the five digit number followed by #. This will bring you to 'enter
your password’.

Campus Phone Facts
• Extensions beginning with the number 7 are for employees and departments
and can be dialed directly from off campus using area code (508) with the prefix
767.
• Student extensions begin with the number 8, and may be dialed directly
from off campus using area code (508) with the prefix 767.
• Extensions beginning with a 5 are campus extensions and cannot be dialed
directly from off campus. To reach these numbers from off campus dial 508-767-7000
and ask for or enter the extension.
