So you want to be a rock star—or maybe just meet one? This is the committee to get you started. Kayla, the Concerts Exec, is in charge of booking bands, revamping the Plourde gym complete with a stage, lighting, and and sound system, as well as advertising the events all across campus. Any and all help is greatly appreciated and rewarded with crew t-shirts, free meals, and an opportunity to meet the performers! Recent visitors to Assumption College have included Ben Folds in March 2007, Dashboard Confessional in spring April 2006, and Howie Day in April 2005.

Assumption College Presents: The Annual Spring Concert
Saturday, April 19, 2008
Gavin DeGraw with Opener Mieka Pauley
Doors at 7:00 p.m., Concert at 8:00 p.m.

Gavin DeGraw Bio:

Upon his arrival in New York in 1998, Gavin DeGraw was anointed by Time Out magazine as of one the city’s best-kept musical secrets. Today, DeGraw is no longer a mystery to the masses, as Chariot, his J Records debut album, reveals to the world a compelling young musician whose wholesome disposition and honest lyrics equate with success.

At 25, DeGraw exudes a charismatic presence, performing at such venues as New York’s Irving Plaza, Joe’s Pub and Wilson’s. Accompanying himself on piano and guitar, DeGraw sings soulfully about life’s love and heartache.

Mieka Pauley Bio:

She puts her guitar in the trunk of her car and does an average of 150 live shows a year criss-crossing the country. She follows her own vision for her music and her soul/blues/rock/acoustic/ alternative style has brought comparisons to Ben Harper, Cat Power, Neko Case, Patty Griffin, Martin Sexton and others. She came up listening to all of those artists and also to Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Eva Cassidy Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill. She has traveled in several directions as well in her recordings and bands while defining her own personal sound and style, and this road has lead her to take the reins in her own hands and draw her own map from here forward.
