Welcome Back Week is AC's way of getting all students excited about being back on campus at the beginning of every fall and spring semester. How does it happen? Well, there's an entire week of fun, interesting events that bring you together with your friends after being apart for the summer or winter break.

Welcome Back Week is collaboratively planned by some of Assumption's biggest clubs offices, including the Campus Activities Board, the Student Government Association, Multicultural Affairs, and Campus Ministry.

Over the summer of 2004, three Western Massachusetts songwriters joined up to create a massive musical force. Tim Cullinan (Assumption '08), John Veit, and Paul Dionne have written songs that can at times blow you away with unrivaled jams, or simply please the ears with soft melodic measures. Their three unique sounds formed to create music which has been compared to Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews Band, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Howie Day, U2, Jeff Buckley, Gavin DeGraw, and Eric Clapton to name a few. With the recently added, and extremely talented Sean Croteau on drums, PrideFalls is breaking out of the underground and onto the mainstage.

Saturday, January 26th
RENT on Broadway

RENT is a rock musical, with music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson inspired by and partially based on Giacomo Puccini's opera La bohème. The musical tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Alphabet City in the thriving days of the Bohemian East Village, under the shadow of AIDS.

Rent, which won an American Tony Award and a Pulitzer Prize, was one of the first Broadway musicals to feature lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender characters. In addition, its cast was noticeably ethnically diverse. Rent brought controversial topics to a traditionally conservative medium, and it helped to increase the popularity of musical theater amongst the younger generation. RENT speaks to Generation X the way that the musical Hair spoke to the baby boomers or those who grew up in the 1960's, making it "a rock opera for our time."
