Abby's House
Abby's House is a women's shelter consisting of three buildings for women and children who have been abused in some way and need a place to stay. This shelter is mostly run by volunteers so volunteers are crucial to Abby's House. Volunteers have a few options when going there; the kitchen, the thrift shop, or reception. In the kitchen we prepare and/or serve lunch to the residents of all three buildings. The thrift store mostly needs help with rearranging and sorting clothes since it is a fairly popular store. A receptionist simply does office work and answers phones. Volunteers usually go for about 2 hours and usually are able to have contact with residents living there. It's a great opportunity to help others and also to obtain a new perspective on life through the lives of other women.
