What computer(s) can I bring to campus?

Most students bring their own computers to campus and connect easily to the Residential Network (ResNet) in their dorm rooms. In order to connect, these computers must meet the following minimum requirements:

Windows OS Macintosh OS
Windows XP Service Pack 3 Apple OS 10.5 or better
20 Gb Free disk space (The more the better) 20 Gb Free disk space (The more the better)
2 Gb of RAM (The more the better) 2 Gb of RAM (The more the better)
CD drive (CD burner or DVD drive is recommended) CD drive (CD burner or DVD drive is recommended)

Anti-virus software that runs continuously. (Anti-virus software is provided by the College at no cost. If you have purchased other anti-virus software, please feel free to continue to use your version.)

 

In addition, we ask that:
You have an understanding of your computer’s warranty
You bring your operating system software (any CDs you received when you purchased your computer)
Your computer is virus free
Your computer has all security patches installed
Your computer is in good working order
You bring all power cords, a power strip and an Ethernet cable.
