Where is the IT Center located?
The Information Technology Center is located in the center of campus next to Fuller Hall and across to the Chapel of the Holy Spirit.
Where is the Helpdesk located?
The Helpdesk is located on the first floor of the Information Technology Building, in IT 130.
Is the campus wired for internet access?
Yes, the entire campus is wired for internet access. In dorm rooms, there is one wired port for each resident of that room (a 1:1 port-to-pillow ratio).
Is wireless internet offered on campus?
Yes, wireless is available in all dorms and academic buildings. Additionally, public locations such as Charlie's, the Emmanuel d'Alzon Library, Taylor Dining Hall, study lounges, the IT Center, the Hagan Campus Center also have wireless internet available.
Is help available when I arrive on campus in the Fall?
Yes, our ResNet (Residential Network) Staff will be available for extended hours for the first week of the Fall semester, including Move-In Day. Both ResNet student and administrative staff will be available to assist students in connecting to the network or for consultation in any other computer-related issues.
When do incoming students receive their email addresses?
Incoming students receive their assumption.edu email addresses during Summer Orientation.

What internet connection is available for students?
Assumption has a 10Gigabit fiberoptic backbone that offers 100Mb speeds to the residential network. This is roughly 25 times faster than the average broadband speed in the United States. (Speeds, however, can vary based on simultaneous connections, network traffic, and other factors.)
Are there computer labs on campus? Are these Macs or PC labs?
Assumption has 4 designated computer labs and 8 computerized classrooms. The library also has numerous computers available for student use. All of the computerized spaces that Assumption offers have a mix of PCs and Macs.
What campus software is available in the labs?
Microsoft Office 2013 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), approximately 200 different standard and educational software products such as: Adobe Creative Suite CS4 (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, etc), Avid, Mathematica, SPSS, and more.
Can I receive assistance with my computer issues on campus?
Yes, the IT Helpdesk and ResNet Staff are the campus service center for computers. Issues are resolved by appointment. The Helpdesk is location in room 130 of the IT Center.
What anti-virus/security software does the college recommend? How am I protected from viruses and malicious software?
Assumption College provides anti-virus software for all students, faculty and staff members free of charge. ResNet Staff is also available to remove viruses from student computers.
Can I buy a computer or software through Assumption?
Yes, our Computer & Software Store provides links to Dell and Apple websites which will give you an educational discount on computers and software for students, faculty and staff. **Note: All purchases are through a third-party. Assumption College does not handle refunds or returns on any hardware or software purchased using the Computer & Software Store.**
Will my smartphone/cell phone (iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, etc.) work with the campus wireless internet?
If your smartphone or cell phone supports Wifi, you can connect to the Assumption College Wireless Network. Please call the IT Helpdesk at 508-767-7060 for assistance seting up a connection. Additionally, Wifi enabled tablets or media devices such as an iPad, iPod Touch, Kindle Fire, Android Tablets, Dell Mini5, etc., will connect to the network as well.
Can I connect a gaming console (i.e., X-Box 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, etc)?
At this time only wired internet game consoles can be connected to the network, no wireless connections are currently supported. The IT Helpdesk will provide connection details at 508-767-7060.
What devices are not allowed?
Wireless routers, hubs, or switches brought from off campus are not allowed on the network. Additionally, the IT&MS Department reserves the right to restrict any device that may be a liability for the network (i.e., "Jailbroken" or modified mobile devices).
