Cedric Ellis did not grow up in the best environment as a young boy in Waterbury, CT. However, his experiences at Assumption had an immediate and profound impact on his view of the world and provided him with an academic foundation that helped him skyrocket his career to the top of corporate human resources management.
“Assumption liberated my thinking, offering a world of opportunity in which it was possible to do anything I put my mind to,” he said. “I owe a lot to Assumption’s nurturing spirit, and its focus on ethics and achievement.”
As a social rehabilitation major at Assumption, Ellis started out his career as a human resources consultant with Aetna and quickly rose up to the corporate director of human resources. He was later the senior director of human resources for Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company in NYC, and also senior vice president of human resources for Wachovia.
“Assumption was the ideal preparation for me to confidently embark on a successful career,” he said. Cedric is now the VP of human resources for CUNA Mutual sales and international organizations.
