Internships

More than 50% of 2010 graduates completed an internship while studying at Assumption.

Assumption emphasizes the importance of student internships in landing a great job or in differentiating an application for graduate school. Assumption has established internships in virtually every field and in locations around Worcester, across the region and around the globe.

Each year, more than 300 Assumption students enhance their education with an internship or practica:

  • Academic internships/practica offer students course work credit and are therefore unpaid. Students register for a class that combines hands-on experience and faculty oversight to ensure that academic and career goals are met.

  • Career Services internships provide students with vital experience and skills, but do not provide academic credit and they may be paid or unpaid. Career Services work closely with juniors and seniors to develop appropriate opportunities.

Internships sites:

  • ABC News

  • America Civil Liberties Union

  • Deloitte & Touche

  • Fidelity Investments

  • Harvard Forest Research Program

  • PricewaterhouseCoopers

  • Psychology and Social Policy Center, London

  • University of Massachusetts Medical School

  • Worcester Art Museum

  • Elementary, middle and high schools around this area

  • Y.O.U., Inc. (social service agency)

Internship blogs

Every semester approximately 25 students enroll in the Internship in Business course and intern at companies throughout Central Massachusetts. This seminar course with Professor Arlene DeWitt enables students to gain hands-on experience and then review what they are learning onsite with other members of the seminar class. Each week during the semester, one or more students will be blogging about their experiences.
