Theatre and Television Arts

Major:  Theatre and Television Arts (Minor only)

The Minor in Theatre and Television Arts provides the student with the foundation and the basic techniques of theatre and television as preparation for a fuller appreciation and involvement in both disciplines.

  • 130-140 students are involved each year in one or both of the Theatre Department’s productions; typically a drama in the fall, a musical in the spring semester.
  • The primary instructor, Brian Tivnan, had founded his own theatre company, Forum Theatre, before joining the faculty at Assumption. He was featured on CBS’ 60 Minutes for an innovative production of West Side Story.
  • TV production courses complement both tracks in Communication.
  • Students can create a major with assistance from the Dean of Studies.
  • Co-curricular activities include hip-hop, theatre club (AC Upstage), Improv Club (Assumption Asylum), WACT College TV Station

Faculty Areas of Interest:

  • Brian Tivnan – Teaching students to use their own lives to create theatrical pieces.

 

Did you Know?

Most Assumption Accounting majors have accepted full-time positions by December of their senior year.
